WELCOME TO WHATCOM COUNTY

The railway galleries that follow are displayed by city, starting from the north. Whatcom County has two subdivisions both owned and operated by the BNSF Railway Company. We start our journey at the US-Canadian border in the City of Blaine, where the Bellingham subdivision begins, and then travel south along the coast to south Bellingham and the Whatcom/Skagit County line. A short spur line runs off the Bellingham sub in Custer and is primarily used by the Cherry Point and Intalco refineries as well as several other local businesses. BNSF, Amtrak Cascades, Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, and the Rocky Mountaineer all operate on the Bellingham subdivision. We then return to the border a little further inland to the Sumas subdivision which starts in the City of Sumas and travel south to Wickersham.
